I purchased 2 of these machines for a doctor's office. They are both used for printing, copying, and faxing. Both have performed flawlessly and outlived my durability expectations by far. We use one to print everything from card stock to mailing labels and have had no problems with either. I have used the manual feed for printing addresses on blank envelopes and have not experienced the feed problems mentioned by others. Great machines. They are far better durability wise and cost per copy than the HP machines I replaced.

This is the printer I am stuck with at work and I hate it. Yes, it prints clearly, scans and copies just fine. Wahoo. My problem is with the programming behind the paper trays. There is one paper tray and a manual feed tray. First issue... I can't get ANYTHING to print without getting a paper selection alert and a BEEP BEEP BEEP. Yes, this means that I can't print a single thing without confirming with the printer that "yes, I want to print this document that I've already clicked ok to print at least twice. Thanks for asking." I've been through all the printer settings on the printer itself and the computer. Mixing and matching settings, trying to find that magic combination and BEEP BEEP BEEP - nothing works. AND THEN THERE"S MORE... forget using the manual feed tray. When I try to run labels #or anything else# from the manual feed tray, it pulls from the paper tray instead. It's frustrating as heck when all the settings on the printer itself and in the printer settings on the computer read MANUAL FEED and the stupid printer still BEEPs at me to approve the print for the umpteenth time and still ends up printing from the bottom paper tray anyway. As if all these fun and games weren't enough, yes, I can print labels from the paper tray, HOWEVER, it almost always grabs an extra sheet or three of bond paper along with it, therefore, still not printing on my sheet of labels. Put a few sheets of labels in the tray, you say? Then it grabs two or three and gums things up nicely with a paper jam. So again, I'm fighting just to print one freaking page of labels. On the plus side, the fan at the back of the printer tosses a nice scent when you strategically place an air freshener in the outlet behind the unit.

Loading papper from tray make me mad. Each time i need to fix papper in tray 1. Stay far from this printer, it just don't worth even half of that money!

So far this unit has been great. I bought it to replace our HP 1536 which failed twice, first at 3 months old and the replacement 2 weeks later. HP's support was so poor I decided to trash it and buy a new one. The Lexmark was my choice. I can tell already it is a much better quality machine just by how it sounds printing and feeding documents to the scanner. The price is not significantly higher but I think the quality is. Durability wise I'll have to let you know in a year or two. One argument you may find is that the toner for the Lexmark seems more expensive at about $300 compared to HP at about $70. The Lexmark should last for 10,000 pages though compared to HP at 2,000. That is 5 times the capacity which actually makes HP toner $350 for the same number of prints.
